Hospital Policy

Our team at Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic provides high-quality, compassionate care for you and your pet. We strive to offer excellent client and patient care with full transparency and open communication. We appreciate you taking the time to review the below information.

Two Locations: Same Team

We are proud to offer two convenient locations to better serve you. Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic East is situated in the Kingsview area of Airdrie, at 2920 Kingsview Blvd SE. This is our larger practice, where we offer evening and Saturday appointments to accommodate your busy schedule. Our original location, Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic West, is located in the Bayside area of Airdrie. Most of our team members rotate through both clinics, we do this to make ourselves more accessible to you at your preferred practice.

Appointment Policy:

At our clinic, we value your time and strive to provide comprehensive care for your furry friends. Our standard appointments typically range from 30 to 60 minutes, unless otherwise stated at the time of booking. We kindly ask that you allow for this amount of time in your schedule.

If you have any commitments that require a different appointment timing, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

For the safety and protection of your pet and other clients, we require that all dogs arrive with a leash and all cats arrive in an appropriate carrier. This is to ensure that all pets are secure and do not cause any harm or disruptions during their visit.

Late Arrival Policy

At our clinic, we strive to provide prompt and efficient service to all our clients. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may cause you to run late for your appointment, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If we are running behind schedule by more than 10 minutes, we will inform you and offer options to accommodate your appointment. However, if you are more than 10 minutes late, we may need to reschedule your appointment to ensure that other clients are not affected.

We kindly ask that you contact the clinic as soon as you know you will be late for your appointment. Depending on the veterinarian’s schedule and how late your arrival will be, we may be able to accommodate you or may rebook your appointment.

Cancellations and Missed Appointments:

At our clinic, we value your time and understand that sometimes situations arise, which may require you to reschedule or cancel your appointment. We kindly ask that you provide us with at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment to avoid a missed appointment or late cancelation fee. For surgeries, we require at least 72 hours’ notice.

Please note that a late cancellation fee of up to $100 may be charged if you fail to provide us with the required notice. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

No-Show Policy:

Clients will be considered a no-show in the following circumstances:

  • Arriving more than 10 minutes late after their scheduled appointment.
  • Canceling or rescheduling their appointment after the above-listed notice periods.
  • Failing to show up for their appointment.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we are here to help. If you encounter such a situation, please call and speak to us, and we will do our best to assist you.

Emergency Policy:

Our clinic operates primarily by appointments. In the event of an emergency, we will do our best to accommodate same-day appointments and drop-offs, subject to availability during our hours of operation.

In such cases, our veterinarians will examine your pet as soon as possible between their scheduled appointments. Please note that your pet may need to stay at the clinic for several hours to receive the proper care they need. This type of appointment is subject to an increased examination cost to accommodate.

If we are fully booked and cannot provide the necessary care for your pet, we may refer you to another reputable veterinary clinic.
Payment Policy:
At Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic, we require full payment at the time of service. We accept several payment options, including cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and e-transfer via email. We understand that unexpected expenses can arise, which is why we offer payment plans through Paybright. Paybright provides fast pre-approved loans to help those who need financial assistance.

Active Veterinary Client-Patient-Relationship (VCPR)

The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association requires an active Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationship (VCPR) for our clinic to provide prescription medication, nail trims, anal gland expressions and any recommendations for your pet’s health. An annual health exam with one of our veterinarians helps maintain this relationship and ensure the best possible care for your furry friend.

Prescription Refill Policy

We understand the importance of keeping your pet’s medications current and readily available. You may request a prescription refill through our website, email, or phone. To help us process your request efficiently, please have your previous prescription handy as we will need to verify the medication name, concentration, amount, and directions for use.

We do our best to refill medications as quickly as possible, but we ask that you provide us with 3business days notice for prescription refills and 1 week for compounded medication requests. We will notify you via email as soon as your prescription is ready for pick-up.

Please note that any medications not picked up within 2 weeks will be returned to our stock and a restocking fee may apply. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that your pet receives the necessary medication in a timely manner.
