Associate Veterinarian
Full-Time
What we are looking for?
Happy Paws is growing, and we would love for you to be part of that growth. We are looking for a vet with a great personality and excellent communication skills. We work collaboratively as a team and would love for you to build relationships with your clients. We are a fun-loving, close-knit group and we are looking for someone who can fit seamlessly into our team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about all veterinary medicine has to offer. In short, we are looking for you!
What do we offer you?
Options
The option to tailor your schedule (both days of work and how the flow of the day goes). The option to support a passion or a learning opportunity that you have in veterinary medicine and options to give back to the community in a direction that supports your passions. Is there something you want? Just ask!
Strong Supportive Team
We only hire the absolute most amazing team members. We utilize every team member to their highest ability and training and subscribe to a life-long learning mentality. We will also rework anything and everything for our team and their families. In case of emergency, we have each other’s backs.
Invested Owners
Erin and Jeff are the only owners of Happy Paws. It is a passion to deliver not just great care to our clients but to really revolutionize how team members are cared for in veterinary medicine. It’s so small and seriously silly because many of these things are very normal in other environments – things like paying overtime (even for salaried employees), providing lunches, and making sure you go home on time 99% of the time.
Psychological Safety at Work
The vet field can be a toxic place for mental health. We talk openly about our mental health struggles, provide resources and a great benefit plan that allows flexibility for self-care, whatever that means for
you.
A Voice
We really rely on all our team to voice their concerns, challenges, and most importantly solutions. We believe you know exactly what happens on the day to day and want to remove any barriers to providing care for both the patients and clients but also the rest of the team.
Compassion Account
Part of the benefits at Happy Paws is that you get a certain amount of money to put towards anyone’s bill. No questions asked. It gives us flexibility to help who you see in your exam rooms directly. I have seen the team pool this for full surgeries or contribute smaller amounts to cover things like medications or food for patients and clients that they have felt connected to.
Great Benefit Package
We have a great benefit package and a health spending account for our full-time employees. We also pay your dues and provide a CE allowance to support your growth.
Mentoring
Depending on you and your stage in your career, we are great at mentoring. This also carries over to the more established veterinarians – we work collaboratively and love asking opinions of others when cases get tough. For me, even after 10 years I get stumped still.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, DVM
License: In good standing with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.
Experience: Veterinary experience is an asset.
